JBL Adaptive Sports Program Buddies are invaluable volunteers who participate directly with individual players or help facilitate a group sports environment in order to enable our athletes to be safe and have fun while they participate in activities and games. Each session, Buddies are either assigned to individual players , assigned to run a station, or assigned to float and assist as needed. All are expected to cheer and be willing to be animated and helpful. Buddies that are assigned to individual players for a session, are tasked to stay "tuned-in" to their player, to keep their player motivated and active. They provide encouragement and facilitate social interaction with other players and buddies. Who can be a Buddy? We recommend that all Buddies be at least 12 years of age. The JBL Adaptive Sports Program Buddy is not a player in our program, but many do engage as they players partner, and sometimes as careful opposition. Buddies can be skilled athletes, or have no athletic experience. |
